Sold 576 Horses and 154 cattle. 80% Sales in the catalogue sale and 100% sales in Loose horse sale. Big full house on hand from a 7-state area. A lot of Buyer interest in the finished, safe, 4-H used and proven performance horses. We can always use more of those to meet the demand. Horses came and went from Wisconsin, Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa as well as from all across South Dakota Jamie Olson, Bloomfield, Nebraska brought us the right kind. His well put together, shapey, 7-yr old chestnut AQHA mare came to the sale fit up and broke the very best for young or old and sold for $4900 to James & Judy Kvols, Laurel, Neb. This trained reining mare also had a top notch pedigree for future broodmare use. She sold as lot 79 in the catalogue, proof that you dont need to be early in the sale or a gelding to get that top notch price you just need to be a good looking, well broke, quiet horse with a pedigree to get any job done. The top 15 horses average $3060 & the top 5 averaged $3680. Check out the top sale horse pictures and cut lines to see what it takes to bring home the top dollars. Reichmuth Quarter Horses brought us 3 big stand out yearlings, fit up, in show shape and built the way a horse should be. They sold from $1100 to $1200. Be sure to see our pictures of these fancy yearlings. Easiest to sell are those big shapey well broke geldings those that are safe for the whole family to ride, the ranch geldings that can take the place of a hired hand or the performance horses that can pay for themselves with pay checks in the arena events. Breed to raise the best & you can get those young 2 & 3-yr old started prospects sold at good prices too. Stallions & broodmares get attention and big prices only when their pedigrees carry the big legendary greats on the first generation & especially if they are out of money earning mares. Some OUSTANDING consignments & world class bloodlines at our May 19th sale. Dont miss it! Demand drops dramatically on the non-broke horses, especially fillies and mares & the thinner or smaller yearlings with average bloodlines. There already was a BIG correction going on in the horse industry with over production per demand of weanlings, and now we got the economy & recession to add to it. The quality of horses in the future, will be considerably better and good prices for those that weather this storm. LOOSE HORSES Sold 393 head. Big time culling going on right now with the economy, price of hay and gas. 62 head of horses sold for $50 or less, with most of those being the thin yearlings. A few of those, were even passed out as no value Buyers finding the thin yearlings too big a gamble to buy as they get sick easily in this cool, damp spring weather after transportation. Weigh up market lower due to higher cost of trucking out of the country and big movement around the country. Remember only 7% commission on loose horses, $30 miminum. $125 fee for disposal of no value horses unless picked up within a week. The Breiner Ranch Broodmare Dispersal, selling in the loose sale averaged $333 on the bred mares with their top mare selling for $750. The nice Loutch yearlings selling in the loose sale sold $100 - $250 on the fillies and $100-$325 on the stud colts. Aged stallions sold from $50 - $350 on the loose.
